Grizzlies fall 5-1 in National Championship game to Delaware; finish season ranked #2

Grizzlies fall in National Championship game

Strongsville, OH- Oakland University Hockey was the lowest seed (#13) to play in the ACHA DI National Championship game but were unable to overcome Delaware and fell by a 5-1 score.

 

Goalie Matt Toter (15-10-2) received the start in net making 20 saves on the night.

 

The Grizzlies were unable to generate much in the championship game as the Blue Hens scored early in the hockey game.

 

The Grizzlies kept things close until going down 3-0 in the second period.

 

Forward Jordan MacDonald scored the lone Grizzly goal in the third period of play which was assisted by forward Billy Balent and forward Adam Novack.

 

The Grizzlies finish the 2011-2012 season ranked as the number two team in the nation. Under Head Coach Jeremy Bachusz the Grizzlies have finished better then the previous season each year with finishes of #12 in 2009-2010 #8 2010-2011 and #2 in 2011-2012 season.

 

The Grizzlies defeated the #20, #4, #12 and #1 teams in the nation in route to the National Championship game.
